The Wheels on Wednesday Car Meet at Avoncroft Museum is one of the most unique automotive events in the Midlands. Unlike traditional car meets held in supermarket or retail car parks, Avoncroft places classic and modern performance cars amongst historic buildings dating back hundreds of years.

The combination of beautifully preserved architecture, tree-lined pathways and open green spaces provides photographers with an incredible variety of backgrounds that help every vehicle stand out.

Whether you're interested in classic British sports cars, American muscle, European performance cars or modern supercars, the event attracts an impressive mix of vehicles throughout the year.

1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0

One of the standout cars of the event was this beautifully presented 1976 Porsche Carrera 3.0. Positioned against the historic museum buildings, it perfectly captured the blend of classic automotive design and heritage surroundings that make Avoncroft such a unique venue.

Bentley Continental GT V8

The Bentley Continental GT V8 brought modern luxury and performance to the event. Its striking blue paintwork contrasted beautifully with the museum setting and made for some memorable photographs.

Chevrolet Corvette C8

The mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 continues to turn heads wherever it appears. Its aggressive styling and vibrant colour made it one of the most photographed cars at the meet.

Ford GT

A genuine icon of American performance engineering, the Ford GT was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the evening. The combination of dramatic lighting and the museum backdrop created one of my favourite images from the event.

BMW M2

A stunning Long Beach Blue BMW M2 photographed during the Wheels on Wednesday car meet at Avoncroft Museum. The shaded woodland setting provided a unique backdrop for this modern performance coupe.

Photographing Cars at Historic Locations

One of the reasons I enjoy photographing at Avoncroft Museum is the variety of locations available within a relatively small area.

Rather than photographing cars against plain tarmac or busy public roads, the museum provides:

Historic timber-framed buildings

Traditional brick workshops

Open countryside views

Tree-lined avenues

Rustic barns

Period architecture

These locations allow every vehicle to be photographed in a more cinematic way while creating images that stand out on social media, websites and in print.
